All Aboard! What little boy’s toy collection would be complete without a little red wagon? If your son or grandson doesn’t already have his own toy wagon, make sure to add that to the top of your list of gifts to purchase for the next birthday or gift giving event. Wagons are the perfect gift for active little boys and girls, because they promote imagination and outdoor play.

There are a variety of ways to play with these toys. One of the most fun ways gets you involved in your kid’s playtime. Just sit him in the wagon, grab the handle, and run him around the backyard. Your kid is sure to love the sharp turns and bumps as he gets his very own personal ride. Do take the proper safety precautions, however. Make sure your kid is wearing a helmet, so in case he takes a tumble over one of those particularly fun but sharp corners, he won’t seriously hurt himself.

wagons-beepbeepzoom.jpgKids love to play outdoors.  They can ride their bikes and tag their wagons along too.  They put all their outdoor toys in their wagons and head on to the park where they can play with their friends.

There are different wagons that kids can choose from.  You will always find the classic red wagon that almost every kid has.  But there are different wagons as well.  You can find pink wagons that are perfect for girls and smaller wagons for little kids.  There are even all terrain wagons that you can take along anywhere.  It really is a great toy to have.

Take A Ride On A Wagon

Every child knows of or has owned a Radio flyer wagon.  That signature fire-engine red with black wheels.  It’s been a childhood fixture ever since it came out.  My mother gave my brother a Radio flyer wagon when he turned 4.  He pulled that wagon around everywhere he went.  Sometimes he’d ask me to sit on the wagon so he could give me a ride.

It was often a bumpy ride.  Imagine how much more comfortable it would’ve been if we had a Radio flyer wagon seat.  It comes in the signature fire-engine red and fits easily onto the wagon.  The straps secure the seat to the underside of the wagon.  Made of durable molded plastic, the Radio flyer wagon seat is sure to be a hit with kids today.

Most communities have some sort of holiday parade. And many times holiday parades feature decorated wagons. Any little red wagon will work. And many household items can be used for decorations. Here’s how to do it:

parade wagon
  1. Find out if your parade imposes any regulations on decorating. See if there’s a theme for the parade.
  2. Let your hobbies inspire you. Use a favorite holiday or season for example. Gather crepe paper, flowers, steamers and flags.
  3. Floats sized to fit over a wagon can be found at a craft store.
  4. Attach decorations to the wagon. Drape the sides with garlands, paper and balloons.
  5. Make signs for the sides of the wagon with inspirational quotes or messages.
  6. Add decorations to make the wheel look like a vehicle. Use a steering wheel and wheels for a car or created an old-fashioned covered wagon.
  7. Fill the wagon with stuffed animals or pots of flowers. Make sure stuffed animals are dressed appropriately for the theme.

Have Fun!
