My first tricycle was pale pink in color and had glittering streamers hanging from the handlebars. I have such great memories of riding that little bike! When my niece turned five last year I wanted to surprise her with the same sort of tricycle. I found on at the nearby toy store—and it was perfect. It was cherry-pink in color and had yellow stripes running down its sides.
I put the tricycle in a huge box and wrapped it with shiny silver paper. I bought a long, pink ribbon and stuck it right on the top. My niece was so excited when she saw the gift she screamed. Later, when it came time to open the presents she chose mine first and rapidly tore off the wrapping paper. She rode the tricycle around for the rest of the day. And now every time I visit she asks if I want a ride.
